Legal Advisor (12‑month Fixed‑Term)

About the role

Our client is the South African subsidiary of a global manufacturing group that produces gelatin and collagen proteins for food, pharmaceutical, health and nutrition industries. An experienced Legal Advisor is needed to provide professional legal support and advice across commercial, contractual and corporate matters while managing litigation, mediation, arbitration and dispute‑resolution processes. This is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research, statutory interpretation and analysis.
• Provide advice on commercial, corporate and contractual matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts and agreements.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal and commercial risks.
• Manage and support litigation, mediation and arbitration processes.
• Liaise with and manage external legal service providers.
• Advise management on regulatory and statutory compliance.
• Support corporate governance, legal administration and documentation.

Required profile

• LLB degree or equivalent recognised legal qualification.
• Completed Articles of Clerkship and admission as Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience in commercial law and contract drafting.
• Experience in litigation, dispute resolution, mediation and arbitration.
• Working knowledge of South African legislation, including the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA).
• Experience within a manufacturing or corporate environment and managing external legal advisors (advantageous).
