Lead Software Engineer (Full Stack) – Johannesburg

About the role

As a Lead Software Engineer you will stay hands‑on while shaping the next generation of secure, scalable software, combining technical leadership with direct contribution across the full stack.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, test and deploy end‑to‑end features spanning front‑end, back‑end, API and database layers.
• Own solution design, including data models, API contracts, UI patterns and third‑party integrations.
• Provide technical direction to a cross‑functional squad while actively writing production‑grade code.
• Define and maintain coding, branching, testing and engineering standards.
• Lead architectural decisions, document them through design docs and ADRs, and establish scalable reference architectures.
• Mentor senior, intermediate and junior developers, conduct code reviews and facilitate technical discussions.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, Business Analysis and other stakeholders to translate requirements into robust solutions.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a full‑stack engineer in complex, regulated environments.
