Lead Java Developer

About the role

The Technology/Domain Specialist provides technical leadership and strategic guidance across technology and domain assets, focusing on Java 17+, Spring Boot, Ab Initio, and micro‑services integration. Working in a regulated banking environment, the role ensures solutions are resilient, scalable, secure and aligned with the organisation’s architectural vision.

Key responsibilities

• Offer expert technical advice on Java 17+, Spring Boot, Ab Initio and micro‑services architectures to engineering leads, domain architects and senior executives.
• Assess, influence and recommend technology solutions that meet performance, scalability, security and architectural standards.
• Define, implement and continuously evaluate patterns, practices and standards for application development, micro‑services integration and Ab Initio‑based data pipelines.
• Guide code branching, merging and release practices, ensuring compliance with CI/CD, DevOps and governance protocols.
• Strategise and drive execution of technical road‑maps, and lead research and development initiatives.

Required profile

• Advanced Diploma or First Degree in IT or a related field.
• At least 8 years of IT experience, including 5 years with Java 17+, Spring Boot, micro‑services and Ab Initio.
• Proven ability to advise engineering leads, domain architects and senior executives on technical direction.
• Strong decision‑making, courage, stress tolerance and quality orientation.
