Lamproom Operator – Mining Sector

About the role

The Lamproom Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of lamp room equipment in a mining environment. The role supports health, safety and productivity objectives while ensuring compliance with company policies and mining regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain lamp room equipment and tools according to DMR guidelines and mine code of practice.
• Compile and submit required legal and operational reports.
• Resolve customer complaints and grievances promptly and professionally.
• Maintain housekeeping and ensure a safe work area.
• Liaise with Lampsman, visitors, clients and staff to support quality and safety standards.
• Provide administrative support and keep the Lampsman informed of unresolved issues.
• Identify hazards, report them and adhere to health and safety procedures, including use of PPE.

Required profile

• Grade 12 certificate.
• At least 1 year experience as a lamproom operator or in a similar technical role.
• Basic understanding of lamp room equipment and tools.
• Good computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills and ability to work in a team.
