About the role

Darling Romery is a dairy processing plant that handles the manufacturing, packaging, and distribution of fresh milk, fruit juices, and dairy‑related products, located in Darling, Western Cape. We invite applications for the role of Laboratory Manager within the Quality department. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to quality and continuous improvement are encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

• Management of staff
• Coordination of laboratory administration and microbiology
• Product testing and management of non-conformances
• Quality assurance and food safety compliance
• Purchasing within the department
• Maintenance of laboratory equipment
• Management of raw milk intake and related duties

Required profile

• Any BSc degree or diploma applicable to a laboratory function (e.g. BSc Microbiology, BSc Food Science, B.Tech Food Technology)
• Excellent planning, organising and management skills
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
• Good communication and negotiation skills; able to work with people and within a team
• Ability to function effectively within a management team
• Proactive approach to the execution of duties and planning
• Neatness, accuracy and cost awareness within the workplace
• Flexibility to work outside standard hours when required
