Key Account Manager – Durban

About the role

The Key Account Manager will be at the centre of the import/export sales process, managing key customers, supporting market growth and ensuring smooth execution from pricing to paperwork. You will work closely with senior commercial leaders and be prepared to operate across different time zones, sometimes beyond standard office hours.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients.
• Understand each client’s needs, objectives and challenges to respond quickly.
• Check all documentation before sending to clients to ensure correct pricing and stock details.
• Provide clients with all relevant shipping and clearing documentation before vessels arrive.
• Assist the Business Development Manager with debtor management and credit‑limit compliance.
• Support internal credit‑limit management for existing and new clients.
• Work with the Team Leader to ensure orders are processed quickly and efficiently.
• Communicate order‑related issues to clients promptly and clearly.
• Monitor labelling and special requirements for orders.
• Escalate large or complex issues to the Business Development Manager when needed.
• Prepare reports for suppliers, including market feedback and brand activations.
• Support brand development in‑market and identify sales growth opportunities.
• Monitor brand performance and suggest adjustments to meet objectives.
• Manage pricing, discounts and service level agreements in line with commercial strategy.

Required profile

• Strong administrative backbone with the ability to handle a high volume of client‑sensitive tasks.
• Extreme attention to detail and ability to compartmentalise and prioritise quickly.
• Problem‑solving mindset, able to address client concerns promptly and resolve conflicts.
• Comfortable working across different time zones and beyond standard office hours.
• Commercial orientation with a decisive approach to daily tasks.
