Junior Technical Cost Accountant (Western Cape)

About the role

Our client, a well‑established manufacturing company in Airport City, Western Cape, is seeking a detail‑oriented Junior Technical Cost Accountant to join the finance and operations team. This full‑time position offers exposure to product costing, margin analysis and operational finance in a fast‑paced production environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with product costing and margin analysis.
• Monitor raw material, labour and production costs.
• Support monthly stock counts and inventory reconciliations.
• Analyse variances between actual and standard costs.
• Prepare costing reports and operational financial analysis.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and month‑end reporting.
• Maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) and costing databases.
• Collaborate with production, procurement and finance departments.
• Support continuous‑improvement and cost‑saving initiatives.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Cost & Management Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or technical environment (advantageous).
• Strong numerical and analytical abilities with high attention to detail.
• Good communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Organised, deadline‑driven and eager to learn.

Required skills

• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of ERP systems and inventory control (advantageous).
• Familiarity with Pastel Evolution accounting package.
