Junior Software Tester

About the role

Our client is seeking a Junior Software Tester to join a fast‑growing engineering team in Johannesburg. The role is ideal for a detail‑oriented, analytical individual who is passionate about delivering high‑quality software and ensuring seamless user experiences across complex SaaS platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Review specifications and help write detailed test plans covering happy paths, regressions and edge cases.
• Execute manual test cases in staging and review‑app environments and validate cross‑client functionality.
• Perform exploratory and functional testing of finance‑sensitive workflows such as vesting, leaver processes and accounting exports.
• Confirm permission boundaries, client scoping and multi‑tenant data isolation.
• Reproduce, document and track bugs with clear steps, screenshots and logs.
• Maintain and run manual regression suites for critical workflows and production releases.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners and the Senior QA Engineer to ensure testable acceptance criteria.
• Partner with developers to validate edge cases and contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, IT or a related field (advantageous).
• Strong manual testing skills with a structured, detail‑oriented approach.
• Ability to write clear bug reports and test cases.
• Experience testing web applications with complex business logic.
• Familiarity with GitHub, staging environments and web‑based admin tools.
• Analytical thinking, problem‑solving ability and good communication skills.
