Junior PR Account Manager – Johannesburg

About the role

As a Junior PR Account Manager at MSL you will own the day‑to‑day execution of client initiatives, acting as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of brands. You will work closely with senior account managers and a small team to deliver strategic communications, manage billing and contribute to business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain strong client relationships, lead meetings, and ensure client expectations are met.
• Develop and execute editorial plans, media pitches and journalist outreach across South African and broader African media.
• Prepare and deliver client review presentations, monthly reports and accurate billing.
• Track daily coverage, manage timesheets and support budget and profitability monitoring.
• Identify organic growth opportunities, draft proposals and assist in pitch preparation.
• Mentor junior staff, conduct appraisals and contribute to internal development activities.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Public Relations.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a PR agency (advertising experience advantageous).
• Detail‑oriented with strong written communication and proactive learning mindset.
• Excellent time‑management, initiative‑taking and ability to work under tight deadlines.
