Junior Financial Planner

About the role

A successful independent financial advisory firm specialising in local and offshore investments and financial planning is looking for a financial planning professional to join its growing team in Newlands, Cape Town. The role suits someone with 1 to 3 years of experience in financial planning and investment advice. The successful candidate steps into a structured environment and receives a book of existing clients as well as daily new prospective client leads.

Key responsibilities

• Work as part of a professional team based in the Newlands office.
• Meet prospective clients in person at the office or virtually via Zoom or Teams.
• Follow the established onboarding process to bring on new clients.
• Advise existing and prospective clients on their investment portfolios and provide dedicated advice on offshore investing.
• Assist clients with wills, estate planning and tax planning.
• Prepare and conduct comprehensive investment reviews for clients.
• Keep accurate and updated records of new and existing clients and monitor FICA compliance across client accounts.
• Continuously learn about markets, investment vehicles and tax regulations, and handle client queries professionally and efficiently.

Required profile

• Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience as a financial planner.
• Experience onboarding and servicing investment clients with a variety of investment vehicles.
• Relevant degree; a BCom, BusSci or Honours degree is preferable.
• Passed the RE5 regulatory exam.
• Preference for applicants holding the CFP™ qualification or studying towards it.
• Full fluency in spoken and written English and Afrikaans.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong time management and a drive for continued learning.
