Junior Debtors / Creditors Controller

About the role

A reputable client based in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, is looking for a detail-oriented and organised Junior Debtors / Creditors Controller. The role covers debtors and creditors administration, invoice processing, reconciliations, payment schedules and general office administrative support.

Key responsibilities

• Debtors: conduct credit checks and vetting of new customers for management approval; coordinate the retrieval and distribution of customer invoices; email invoice copies to customers on request.
• Creditors: capture stock once checked and verified; reconcile supplier statements and check freight accounts; resolve supplier queries, follow up on credit notes and obtain outstanding invoices.
• Prepare monthly supplier payment schedules and maintain accurate filing of creditors' invoices and supporting documents.
• Office administration: answer calls and take messages, order stationery, refreshments, cleaning supplies and packing materials, and coordinate maintenance and repairs of office equipment and facilities.
• Manage petty cash and banking of cash sales, maintain filing systems and archives, and submit staff attendance registers, leave forms and sick notes.

Required profile

• Matric (National Certificate) essential.
• Previous experience as a Debtors / Creditors Clerk or similar finance administration role.
• Experience with supplier reconciliations, invoice processing and payment schedules.
• Experience handling petty cash and general office administration is advantageous.
• Ideal candidate is highly organised, reliable, professional and able to multitask and meet monthly deadlines.

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
