Junior Data Technologist

About the role

The Financial Intelligence Centre is seeking a Junior Data Technologist to support its team in collecting, preparing, and analysing financial and statistical data. Working under supervision, you will help develop forensic evidence that assists law‑enforcement investigations and advances the Centre's mandate.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in gathering and documenting business and data requirements from project teams.
• Write and maintain basic scripts and queries for data extraction, integration and migration.
• Conduct routine data quality checks, flag inconsistencies and support issue resolution.
• Prepare simple data summaries, visualisations and reports for investigations.
• Maintain accurate records of data processes and update templates for data checks.
• Support the search and extraction of information from large datasets and produce preliminary analyses.
• Participate in team meetings, prepare presentation materials and communicate progress to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in economics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, finance or a related field (master's degree advantageous).
• 1‑2 years of experience in data analysis or data management (internship or project experience acceptable).
• Basic knowledge of SAS, SQL, Python or similar data‑analysis tools.
• Familiarity with financial or banking data is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to learn.
