Junior Data Engineer

About the role

This position offers an exciting opportunity for a highly analytical individual to work on data manipulation, modelling and integration for asset‑management clients. You will design and build data management solutions and support business users in visualising their data.

Key responsibilities

• Configure and implement data solutions for various clients, focusing on research and investment processes.
• Construct end‑to‑end data services and provide 2nd‑tier support and enhancements.
• Understand and manage financial‑market data requirements, ensuring architecture meets business needs.
• Develop, test and maintain databases and large‑scale processing systems.
• Use scripting languages and tools to integrate systems and improve data reliability, efficiency and quality.
• Automate workflows, create user interfaces for data upload, and feed feedback to development teams.

Required profile

• Tertiary degree in Computer Science, IT, Mathematics, Actuarial Science or Engineering.
• Passion for learning, strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and adaptability in an agile environment.
• Experience or interest in data integration, transformation and financial‑services contexts.

Required skills

• SQL and SSIS for data extraction, transformation and loading.
• Database scripting (stored procedures, functions, queries, triggers).
• Data analysis, modelling and cleaning/ integrity checking.
• Excel reporting and data visualisation (QlikView, PowerBI, Tableau).
• Consuming APIs and basic programming language knowledge.
• ETL concepts and data‑warehousing fundamentals.
• Statistical languages such as R or Matlab (advantageous).
• Scripting languages for process automation.
