Junior Bookkeeper

eThekwini Electromechanical Pty Ltd is hiring a motivated, detail-oriented and hardworking Junior Bookkeeper in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The role suits someone who enjoys numbers, finance and working with figures, and offers room to grow a career in accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Capture and process daily financial transactions
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable, including supplier invoices and customer statements
• Perform bank reconciliations and assist with debtor and creditor reconciliations
• Support VAT, SARS liaison and payroll
• Assist with monthly financial reporting and maintain accurate financial records and filing systems
• Process payments, monitor outstanding accounts and ensure financial documentation is properly kept
• Provide general accounting and administrative support

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
• Diploma or degree in Bookkeeping, Accounting or Finance is advantageous
• Previous bookkeeping or finance administration experience is beneficial
• Strong numerical and analytical skills, good attention to detail, organization and time management
• Honest, reliable, able to work independently and in a team, and willing to learn

Required skills

• Basic understanding of bookkeeping principles
• Computer literacy, particularly MS Excel
• Knowledge of accounting software such as Pastel, Sage or Xero is an advantage
