Junior Accountant – Remote (South Africa)

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Junior Accountant to join our fully remote team, supporting a varied portfolio of UK clients from South Africa. Working closely with a senior colleague, you will gain hands‑on experience in accounts preparation, VAT, tax and client communication.

Key responsibilities

• Handle day‑to‑day client queries, calls and correspondence, ensuring timely updates.
• Assist in preparing year‑end accounts and corporation tax returns.
• Support the VAT return process, including data collection, tracking, and liaison with bookkeeping.
• Draft client emails, meeting notes and follow‑up actions.
• Maintain client records, deadline trackers and workflow notes.
• Coordinate with internal payroll and bookkeeping specialists.
• Learn technical and client‑management skills to progress toward a senior accountant role.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of in‑practice experience at a UK accountancy firm.
• Working knowledge of accounts preparation, VAT or tax (solid foundation in at least one area).
• Strong communication skills and a professional, client‑friendly manner.
• Well‑organized, reliable and detail‑oriented.
• Studying towards AAT or equivalent, or recently qualified.
• Motivated to develop and take on increasing responsibility.
• Reliable home internet connection and a quiet remote workspace.
