Junior Accountant – Pretoria

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Junior Accountant to manage creditors, debtors, VAT, financial reporting and cash flow for a client in Pretoria. The role requires hands‑on experience with Xero and the ability to work independently while supporting the senior finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Process, reconcile and manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and support accurate record‑keeping.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and ensure compliance with statutory tax regulations.
• Support costing and budgeting activities, monitor actual spend versus budget and report variances.
• Track daily cash flow, forecast future cash requirements and maintain adequate liquidity.
• Participate in periodic stock takes and maintain accurate inventory records.
• Assist with payroll processing and payee management.
• Use Xero daily for transaction recording, reconciliations and reporting.
• Perform general finance‑related administrative duties and maintain organized documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years relevant accounting experience.
• Professional certifications such as SAIPA or SAICA are preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Xero Accounting Software.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
