JavaScript/TypeScript Developer (Remote Contractor)

About the role

We are seeking experienced software engineers to help train and evaluate next‑generation AI systems by tackling real‑world engineering tasks. This remote contractor position is ideal for developers who can quickly understand unfamiliar codebases, communicate technical decisions clearly, and solve backend, full‑stack, systems, or infrastructure challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Work on diverse engineering problems across backend, full‑stack, infrastructure, and systems projects.
• Review, debug, improve, and document code in various technical environments.
• Design or evaluate solutions involving APIs, databases, services, integrations, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Identify trade‑offs related to scalability, maintainability, performance, reliability, security, and developer experience.
• Write clear technical explanations, outlining why a solution works and alternative options.
• Collaborate with the customer’s team on technical reviews, implementation decisions, and problem‑solving exercises.
• Adapt rapidly to new codebases, frameworks, and technical requirements.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience.
• Strong ability to read, reason through, and explain unfamiliar code or technical specifications.
• Excellent written communication skills for technical reasoning.
• Comfortable working independently in a remote, part‑time (10‑12 h/week) contractor arrangement.

Required skills

• JavaScript / TypeScript
• Node.js (or comparable backend environment)
• Experience with at least one additional language such as Python, Java, C#.NET, C++, Go, Ruby or PHP
• API design and integration
• Database interaction (SQL/NoSQL)
• Cloud platforms: AWS, GCP or Azure (preferred)
• CI/CD pipelines, DevOps workflows, containers
• Frontend frameworks: React, Next.js, Angular, Vue or React Native (preferred)
