Java Developer – Intermediate or Senior

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer at an intermediate or senior level to join our established development team in Honeydew, Randburg, Johannesburg. The role focuses on designing, building and maintaining robust Java‑based applications and backend services using Spring Boot.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain Java applications and services.
• Build scalable, reliable backend solutions with Java and Spring Boot.
• Create and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate internal and external systems.
• Participate in solution design, architecture discussions and development planning.
• Translate business and technical requirements into effective software solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, integration issues and production incidents.
• Write clean, reusable, well‑documented code and conduct code reviews.
• Apply security, performance and best‑practice standards throughout the development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, testers and other stakeholders in Agile ceremonies.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering or equivalent commercial experience.
• Strong commercial experience developing Java applications.
• Hands‑on expertise with Spring Boot and backend service development.
• Proven experience designing and implementing REST APIs.
• Solid understanding of object‑oriented programming and software design principles.
• Experience working with relational databases.
• Ability to work independently and as part of an Agile team.
