IT Workshop Technician & Coordinator - Durban

About the role

The IT Workshop Technician & Coordinator is the operational backbone of our staging and hardware repair environment in Durban. You will own the workshop floor, drive hardware turnaround efficiency and free senior engineers to focus on complex projects.

Key responsibilities

• Perform component‑level diagnostics and repairs on desktops and laptops, including screen, motherboard, battery and keyboard replacements.
• Execute automated OS deployments, disk cloning, driver staging and Microsoft 365 profile configuration.
• Manage secure data transfers, drive sanitisation, local backups and post‑repair quality assurance.
• Coordinate workshop queues, prioritize urgent tickets and hand off ready‑to‑deploy hardware to field technicians.
• Maintain inventory of RAM, SSDs, adapters and other parts, and track assets in the management system.
• Handle RMA processes, warranty claims and vendor returns.
• Provide L1/L2 troubleshooting for hardware, OS, peripheral and network connectivity issues.
• Document repairs, update asset records in IT Glue and log tickets in ConnectWise.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with hardware diagnostics and component replacement.
• Ability to manage workshop logistics, inventory and turnaround timelines.
• Familiarity with imaging tools and automated OS deployment processes.
• Strong attention to data security and quality‑control procedures.
