IT Support Technician – On‑site & Remote

About the role

AIE is seeking a practical, reliable IT Support Technician to join its Information Infrastructure team in Midrand. The role blends desk‑based help‑desk duties with hands‑on technical work across multiple campuses, supporting staff, students and campus events.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Level 1 on‑site and remote IT support to staff and students.
• Manage, allocate and resolve help‑desk tickets, escalating complex issues as needed.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, connectivity and basic network problems.
• Assist with staff onboarding/offboarding, account setup and device preparation.
• Support student access to portals, software, printing and connectivity.
• Perform mobile device management, endpoint security tasks and device imaging.
• Install, configure and maintain hardware and software, including AV, CCTV and access‑control systems.
• Prepare venues and IT setups for campus activities and events.
• Maintain accurate IT asset registers and conduct daily infrastructure checks.

Required profile

• Diploma or certificate in Information Technology or related field.
• 1–2 years of experience in IT support, help‑desk or technical support.
• Basic understanding of networking, hardware and software troubleshooting.
• Experience in Windows environments and Microsoft 365.
• Valid driver’s licence, reliable transport and willingness to travel between Gauteng campuses.
• Ability to perform physical duties such as lifting equipment, cabling and working at height.
