IT Support Specialist

About the role

The Surveillance Factory is seeking an on‑site IT Support Specialist to join its Durban team. You will provide first‑line and second‑line assistance for desktop computers, IP‑based surveillance equipment and general IT infrastructure, ensuring a reliable and secure environment for both office and field operations.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to help‑desk tickets, diagnose and resolve hardware, software and basic network incidents.
• Install, configure and maintain workstations, peripherals and IP‑camera monitoring tools.
• Document solutions, update asset and configuration records, and assist with system upgrades.
• Collaborate with technical teams to maintain stable IT and surveillance environments.
• Support field teams with on‑site troubleshooting and configuration as needed.

Required profile

• Proven technical support or help‑desk experience with incident management.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software and basic networking issues, including root‑cause analysis.
• Hands‑on experience with Windows and macOS desktops and standard office applications.
• Foundational knowledge of IP networking, addressing and security best practices.
• Relevant certification or education such as CompTIA A+, N+ or an IT diploma/degree.
• Clear communication skills for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to learn or experience with IP‑based CCTV systems.
• Availability to work on‑site in Durban and occasional after‑hours or weekend support.
