Investigator (LP) – Claims Investigation

About the role

Old Mutual is seeking a diligent Investigator (LP) to join its claims investigation team in Polokwane. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality investigations, containing claim spend and upholding best‑practice standards within the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Validate primary claim information, including previous insurance checks and interviews with relevant parties.
• Coordinate with SAPS, retrieve and review claim, sales and client service recordings, and manage transcription requests.
• Request and attach accident reports, settlement letters, registration documents and prejudice requests.
• Ensure vehicles are transferred to approved panel beaters or auction houses and that assessors are appointed.
• Visit incident scenes, assess factual information, verify claimant background and liaise with policyholders, witnesses and professionals such as police.
• Prepare detailed investigation reports, present evidence, and protect the company from invalid claims.
• Arrange payments and coordinate services (builders, plumbers, panel beaters) and negotiate with solicitors where required.
• Maintain up‑to‑date policy information for customers.

Required profile

• Matriculation or equivalent with a relevant certificate in Insurance or Investigation.
• Strong analytical ability to assess factual information and determine liability.
• Excellent communication skills for interviewing, reporting and negotiating.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with internal teams.
