Inventory Clerk

About the role

Absolute Pets, South Africa’s leading pet retailer with over 200 stores, is seeking an Inventory Clerk for its Gauteng warehouse in Kempton Park. The role supports the inventory controller in maintaining accurate stock records and ensuring smooth warehouse operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the inventory controller by executing daily and weekly stock counts, investigating variances, and submitting detailed reports to management.
• Process damaged items, remove them from the system, and help minimise stock losses by preparing the damages aisle.
• Investigate no‑stock picks, negative balances, overrides, and items in the sin bin, informing the stock controller of required adjustments.
• Ensure efficient replenishment to avoid stock outs by monitoring pick discrepancies.
• Conduct expiry checks, identify short‑dated items, and coordinate their movement to stores.
• Maintain daily reporting deadlines, including department handovers and regular updates.
• Perform root‑cause analysis on variances and provide clear, concise validation reports.
• Spot‑check inbound stock for discrepancies and report any issues.
• Keep the warehouse tidy, report housekeeping concerns, and conduct regular floor walks to identify bin location or storage problems.
• Identify opportunities to improve bin assignments and stock allocations, contributing to warehouse KPI achievement.
