Interim Supply Chain Manager (3-Month Contract) – Johannesburg

About the role

This interim position is responsible for establishing and maintaining an effective supply chain management system for the organisation, overseeing asset management, staff travel coordination and office accommodation facilities in Johannesburg.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement supply chain strategies, policies and an operational plan aligned with the company roadmap.
• Identify annual procurement needs, manage tendering, bidding and contracting processes in compliance with National Treasury legislation and BBBEE requirements.
• Maintain supplier databases, negotiate contracts and drive continuous improvement in sourcing, logistics and vendor management.
• Oversee procurement master data, conduct spend analysis, total cost analysis and prepare quarterly and legislative reports.
• Lead inventory management, set optimal inventory levels, define policies and monitor performance against KPIs.
• Provide expert advice to executives, drive stakeholder engagement and deliver capacity‑building programmes on procurement and asset disposal.
• Ensure compliance with PFMA, National Treasury regulations and monitor contract performance, reporting to internal audit and the Auditor‑General.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Finance or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of supply chain management experience.
• At least 3 years of managerial experience in public‑sector supply chain management.
