About the role

Insurance Consultant in Santam’s Operations Commercial Contact Centre, based in Bellville, providing end‑to‑end service and support to intermediaries across the short‑term insurance portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to net profit and growth targets for the business.
• Deliver exceptional service that exceeds customer expectations through proactive and innovative solutions.
• Provide telephonic and email support to intermediaries, authorised representatives and broker services.
• Handle general insurance and policy‑specific enquiries.
• Analyse requests from intermediaries and supply quotations to secure business.
• Initiate outbound calls to discuss quotations and convert policies.
• Conduct client follow‑ups on cancelled policies to understand reasons and attempt retention.
• Manage new business issuance, policy maintenance, renewals and agricultural aspects of policies.
• Resolve insurance queries within required timeframes and compliance standards.
• Manage client expectations on turnaround times for submitted requests.
• Adhere to underwriting criteria and regional requirements while profiling clients for suitable products.
• Implement improvement solutions and follow workforce‑management principles to optimise productivity.
• Prioritise workflow to meet productivity, quality and timeline standards and ensure business targets are met.

Required profile

• Matric / Grade 12 qualification.
• 120 FAIS credits – Commercial lines.
• Minimum three years’ experience in financial services, short‑term insurance.
• Relevant insurance qualification (e.g., NQF level 5) – advantageous.
• Tertiary qualification – advantageous.
