About the role

Santam Insurance, the market leader in general insurance across Southern Africa, is seeking an Insurance Consultant to join its Johannesburg head office. The role focuses on servicing broker requests, managing policy administration, and contributing to the company’s profit and growth targets.

Key responsibilities

• Handle broker enquiries via telephone and email, providing timely and accurate information.
• Process new policy issuance, renewals, amendments, and agricultural policy aspects.
• Assist brokers in selecting appropriate coverages and ensure compliance with underwriting criteria.
• Follow up on cancelled policies to understand reasons and attempt retention.
• Adjust premiums based on updated asset valuations and manage client expectations on turnaround times.
• Maintain quality, compliance, and accreditation standards throughout all interactions.
• Provide backup support for consultants during absences or peak periods.

Required profile

• Matric/Grade 12 qualification with 60 commercial lines FAIS credits.
• Relevant insurance qualification (e.g., NQF Level 5) or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in short‑term commercial or agricultural insurance policy administration and underwriting.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal abilities for collaboration with internal teams and external brokers.
