About the role

Our client is an award‑winning, regulated financial services group that provides fund administration, accounting, investor services and multi‑jurisdictional distribution. They are seeking an experienced in‑house Legal Counsel to support corporate and commercial matters across traditional and alternative fund structures.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, interpret and negotiate a wide range of contracts and legal documents, providing clear legal opinions on corporate and commercial law.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, research complex legal issues and report on potential impacts to the business.
• Conduct legal and regulatory analysis for operational projects, client engagements and internal initiatives, and support policy development to ensure compliance.
• Advise on data privacy and protection matters, interpreting new and evolving data‑related legislation.
• Maintain legal documentation and case files with precision and confidentiality; assist in designing and delivering internal compliance training.
• Act as a liaison with external counsel, regulators, public authorities and government bodies on disputes and regulatory matters.
• Contribute to risk‑management strategies by identifying legal risks and proposing mitigation measures.

Required profile

• Law degree with admission as an attorney or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum five years post‑qualification experience in a legal counsel, compliance or advisory role, preferably within a regulated financial services environment.
• Strong experience in legal drafting of complex commercial and corporate agreements.
• Sound knowledge of AML/CFT, data protection and governance regulatory frameworks.
• Proven ability to provide commercially focused legal advice to senior management and to engage with regulators and external counsel.
• High professional judgment, integrity, discretion and meticulous attention to detail.
