Information Management Specialist

About the role

The Information Management Specialist is responsible for overseeing the company’s information management capabilities, providing an integrated view of the data landscape, and raising the maturity of data practices across the Group and its subsidiaries. This role supports reliable decision‑making by coordinating data governance, quality, and security activities.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation of data management disciplines such as reference/master data, data quality, metadata, data modelling and data security.
• Provide a consolidated view of the Group’s information landscape to enable multiple use cases.
• Rationalise and continuously improve the information landscape for effectiveness.
• Oversee the data lifecycle from acquisition through retention, archiving and deletion.
• Analyse change impacts on data, coordinate related information‑management activities and ensure cross‑discipline alignment.
• Lead stakeholder engagements within the Group and with external parties to ensure service delivery.
• Produce periodic technical and management reports to support decision‑making.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (NQF 7) in Informatics, MIS, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent.
• Five to eight years of experience in data management.
• Additional qualification such as an Honours or Master’s degree in Economics, Finance or related field is advantageous.

Required skills

• Reference and Master Data Management, Data Quality Management, Metadata Management, Data Modelling, Data Security.
• Experience with RDBMS technologies: Oracle, IBM DB2, SQL Server, MySQL.
• Big‑data platforms: Hadoop, Spark, NoSQL databases.
• Proficiency in SQL and OLAP tools (ESSBASE, Microsoft Analysis Services).
• Programming languages: Python, R.
• Knowledge of data warehousing and multi‑dimensional analytics.
