Industrial Site Base Ambulance Emergency Assistant

About the role

Mediclinic is recruiting one Industrial Site Base Ambulance Emergency Assistant for its ER24 SBMS Assmang Black Rock site in Kuruman, South Africa. The role is on-site and permanent, and the main purpose is to attend to site-based emergency calls and provide medical care within the scope of practice. Appointment is subject to successful completion of a physical fitness and medical assessment.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure operational readiness for emergency calls
• Administer patient care in line with the scope of practice
• Provide professional emergency services to site-based clients

Required profile

• Ambulance Emergency Assistant certificate or higher certificate in emergency medical care
• At least 1 year of EMS experience; 1 year of ILS experience is desirable
• Proficiency in written and spoken English
• Completion of training on Clinical Practice Guidelines published by the Health Professions Council of South Africa is advantageous; if not compliant at the time of application, the trainee must complete it during the probation period

Required skills

• Knowledge of facilities, travel routes and the demographical area
• Understanding of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice
• Familiarity with the EMS environment and Patient Report Forms
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety, including the OSH Act, Mine Health and Safety Act and risk management
• Application of best practice
