Import/Export Specialist – Africa South

About the role

Orica is seeking an Import/Export Specialist to join its Supply Chain team in South Africa. The role will serve as the regional subject‑matter expert for customs and trade compliance across South Africa, Namibia, Zambia and Tanzania, ensuring all import and export activities meet regulatory and company standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead customs compliance monitoring, assurance and audit readiness for all import and export operations in the Africa South region.
• Conduct post‑clearance and pre‑clearance reviews to verify declaration accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Manage customs broker performance, identify gaps and implement corrective actions.
• Develop and maintain customs compliance reporting, dashboards and management insights.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, customs authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure effective trade governance and permit compliance.

Required profile

• Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, Commerce, Law, Finance or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in customs compliance, international trade or import/export operations.
• Proven experience managing customs brokers, freight forwarders or third‑party logistics providers.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct customs audits and drive continuous improvement.
