ICU Unit Manager – Critical Care Leadership

About the role

We are looking for an experienced ICU Unit Manager to lead a high‑performing critical care team at a leading private hospital in Gauteng. The role combines clinical expertise with strong leadership to ensure safe, patient‑centred care in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily ICU operations, maintaining optimal patient outcomes and safety.
• Lead, mentor and develop nursing staff, fostering teamwork and professional growth.
• Manage rosters, staffing levels and resource allocation efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, clinical protocols and regulatory standards.
• Drive quality‑improvement and infection‑control initiatives.
• Collaborate with intensivists, surgeons and allied health professionals.
• Control budgets, stock and procurement of ICU equipment.
• Address patient and family concerns with empathy and professionalism.
• Maintain accurate documentation for audits and management reviews.

Required profile

• Degree in Nursing Education & Administration/Management (essential).
• Degree in Critical Care (essential).
• Degree in General Nursing.
• SANC‑registered nurse.
• Minimum 5 years experience as an ICU Unit Manager.
