Hydrometallurgy Engineer – Johannesburg

About the role

The Hydrometallurgy Engineer will support our client, a global leader in inspection and certification, by providing expert process engineering for hydrometallurgical projects. Based in Bryanston, the role involves developing cost‑effective proposals, delivering detailed design documentation, and ensuring successful project execution.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical input for business development, preparing proposals and defining customer requirements.
• Develop conceptual designs, mass‑and‑energy balances, and process flow diagrams (PFDs).
• Support project life‑cycle activities: scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, procurement of long‑lead items, and progress reporting.
• Generate detailed engineering deliverables, including equipment specifications, data sheets, and operating manuals.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, prepare vendor enquiries, and obtain client approvals.

Required profile

• Proven experience in process engineering for hydrometallurgical or related industrial projects.
• Ability to produce accurate mass‑and‑energy balances and detailed PFDs.
• Strong analytical skills to develop equipment lists, specifications, and control philosophies.
