Household Assistant & Junior House Manager

About the role

We are seeking an energetic and caring Household Assistant & Junior House Manager to join our home in Constantia, Cape Town. This full‑time, on‑site position supports the daily running of a busy private household, providing flexible assistance with housekeeping, childcare, and household coordination.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming home environment, working alongside existing staff.
• Assist with laundry, ironing, bedding changes, and care for delicate garments.
• Provide occasional child‑minding, meal preparation, playtime supervision, and support daily routines.
• Prepare simple home‑style meals and help with entertaining guests.
• Coordinate contractors, report maintenance issues, and monitor household supplies and basic expenses.
• Adapt to varying hours based on homeowner presence, stepping in wherever needed.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a private household, nanny, au pair, or housekeeping role.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to changing tasks.
• Trustworthy, proactive, and comfortable handling confidential household matters.

Required skills

• Strong housekeeping and laundry techniques.
• Basic meal preparation skills.
