Hospital Porter (X5) – 5 Positions

About the role

The Department of Health is recruiting five Hospital Porter (X5) staff for Sebokeng Hospital. Porters are responsible for safely moving patients, equipment and documentation throughout the facility, supporting nursing teams and ensuring timely transport services.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with loading patients into and out of ambulances and personal vehicles.
• Accompany ambulatory and non‑ambulatory patients from reception/casualty to wards and other service points.
• Transport patients using wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Support nursing staff with patient transfers between wards.
• Carry medical documentation to wards and other locations.
• Collect deceased patients from wards to the mortuary and load them onto shelves.
• Clean and maintain transport equipment such as wheelchairs and stretchers.
• Report and arrange repair of damaged wheelchairs and stretchers.

Required profile

• ABET or equivalent qualification.
• Ability to study and write.
• Medical institution experience is an advantage.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Ability to work efficiently in a team and under pressure.
