Hospital Credit Controller (Durban)

About the role

The Hospital Credit Controller will oversee the collection of patient payments and manage overdue accounts to support the financial health of the hospital. This full‑time position is based in Durban and reports to the Credit Control Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Process new patient accounts and assess creditworthiness.
• Obtain authorization for all credit applications.
• Communicate payment reminders and collection notices to patients.
• Ensure timely payment of new and existing accounts in line with group policy.
• Assist in establishing and maintaining the hospital’s credit control system.
• Support final authorization of Managed Care patient files and correct coding for Managed Care Organization patients.
• Maintain accurate records of all account activities.

Required profile

• Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 qualification; a Financial Diploma is a plus.
• Minimum three years of administrative or clerical experience in a hospital setting.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work with financial data.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP functions.
• Working knowledge of SAP (advantageous).
