Hospital CEO – Hospital Group – Durban

About the role

An exceptional leadership opportunity exists to head a leading private hospital group in KwaZulu‑Natal. Reporting to the Group Chief Operations Officer, the CEO will be accountable for the overall strategic, operational, financial and clinical performance of the hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the hospital’s strategy in line with the Group vision, driving operational excellence and high‑performance culture.
• Lead financial management, including full P&L accountability, budgeting, forecasting and optimisation of revenue, costs and margins.
• Oversee clinical governance, patient safety and quality programmes, ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
• Manage stakeholder relationships with doctors, regulators, funders and industry bodies, representing the hospital in internal and external forums.
• Implement risk, compliance and corporate governance frameworks, supervising internal and external audit processes.
• Drive talent management, performance reviews, recruitment and succession planning to build a strong leadership team.

Required profile

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Healthcare Management, Business Administration, Finance or related field; postgraduate qualification (MBA) advantageous.
• 8‑10 years senior management experience in the private healthcare sector, preferably as Hospital CEO or General Manager, with strong commercial and financial acumen.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex healthcare operations, understand clinical governance and regulatory frameworks.
