Hospital Case Manager – Pietermaritzburg

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Hospital Case Manager to join our team in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu‑Natal. The role involves overseeing patient case documentation, ensuring accurate clinical coding and timely billing to support reimbursements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date and accurate information on the hospital billing system.
• Plan, coordinate and execute clinical coding in line with client standards.
• Perform diagnostic and procedural coding (CPT, ICD) for all patient records.
• Finalize cases promptly to enable funder reimbursements.
• Bill patients for day tariffs and ward stock, close billing checks, and submit claims.
• Provide patient history details to clinical partners.
• Monitor and control costs for managed‑care patients and confirm length of stay.
• Assist with authorizations, coding compliance, and patient transfers to other facilities.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Nursing with active SANC registration.
• Minimum three years of case management experience in a hospital environment.
• Strong knowledge of hospital patient services, CPT & ICD coding, and funder contracts.
• Understanding of private hospital industry practices.
