Home Carer – Haven Old Age Home

About the role

Make a difference by providing compassionate care to frail elderly residents at the Haven Old Age Home in Woodstock, Cape Town. The Home Carer works under the supervision of an Enrolled & Registered Nurse and contributes to the well‑being and rehabilitation of adults living on the streets who are committed to reintegration.

Key responsibilities

• Provide personal care and promote hygiene for highly dependent residents.
• Maintain accurate records, documentation and ensure a clean physical environment.
• Handle resident complaints professionally and coordinate doctor appointments.
• Communicate effectively with residents about their care and assess emergency needs.
• Monitor psycho‑somatic and emotional states, and support dietary requirements with the catering department.
• Mentor learners on internships and learnerships.

Required profile

• Basic Home Carer certificate and Matric qualification.
• Minimum two years experience as a Home Carer and at least one year in geriatric nursing.
• Well‑spoken with neat presentation and ability to communicate with the elderly.
• Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
