Health, Safety and Environment Coordinator

About the role

The Health, Safety and Environment Coordinator will lead the implementation, coordination and monitoring of HSE requirements across Candi's solar asset portfolio in South Africa. This role supports the company’s mission to deliver clean energy while ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and maintain HSE policies and procedures.
• Track, record and report all incidents, near‑misses and safety violations.
• Coordinate safety training programmes and ensure all staff are trained on HSE policies.
• Prepare and disseminate safety communications such as newsletters, bulletins and posters.
• Maintain safety records, certifications, permits and logs, and submit regulatory reports.
• Support the South African HSE Representative in safety committee meetings and employee initiatives.
• Manage contractor and service‑provider HSE files, conduct site inspections and ensure compliance.

Required profile

• Relevant HSE/Safety qualification (e.g., SAMTRAC or equivalent).
• 3–5 years of HSE experience, including incident investigation.
• Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
• Practical experience conducting workplace/site inspections.
• Good understanding of South African OHS legislation.
• Strong report‑writing and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel nationally.
