Head of Projects and Programmes

About the role

The Head of Projects and Programmes will lead the strategic planning, implementation and oversight of Treetop Talent’s programmes and projects that support South Africa’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework. Reporting to the Executive Director, the role ensures delivery on time, within budget and in line with regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage programme plans, budgets, timelines and performance indicators.
• Monitor programme delivery, manage risks, dependencies and drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee multiple concurrent projects, coordinate internal resources and external service providers.
• Establish project management methodologies, standards and reporting frameworks.
• Maintain financial oversight, monitor budgets and ensure sound expenditure.
• Build and sustain relationships with producers, government departments, regulators, municipalities, waste reclaimers and industry associations.
• Represent the company in technical working groups, industry forums and stakeholder engagements.
• Support the Executive Director in strategic planning and monitor legislative and policy developments related to EPR, packaging and waste management.
• Prepare regulatory submissions, annual reports and align activities with the Waste Act, EPR Regulations and Circular Economy Action Plan.
• Develop and maintain programme performance dashboards and reporting mechanisms.

Required profile

• Proven experience in leading large‑scale programmes and projects.
• Strong ability to coordinate resources and manage external service providers.
• Familiarity with South African waste‑management legislation, EPR regulations and circular‑economy initiatives.
• Excellent stakeholder‑engagement skills across public and private sectors.
• Strategic thinking with a focus on delivering results within budget and schedule.
