Head of Operations – Community Organization

About the role

The Green and Sea Point Hebrew Congregation (Marais Road Shul) is seeking a seasoned Head of Operations to lead day‑to‑day activities, support the Rabbi and senior leadership, and ensure the smooth functioning of its facilities, people and systems.

Key responsibilities

• Manage operational systems including SharePoint and internal processes, and produce regular reports for the management committee.
• Lead a cross‑functional office team of approximately ten staff and volunteers, conduct performance reviews and drive skills development.
• Oversee digital, CRM and fundraising projects, coordinate content creation for social media and the website, and work with designers and developers.
• Supervise facilities maintenance, supplier relationships, budgeting, procurement and vendor negotiations in close collaboration with Finance.
• Plan and execute community events, the annual calendar and joint initiatives with partner organisations, sourcing volunteers and handling logistics.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of operations or general management experience, preferably within a non‑profit or community‑based organisation.
• Proven ability to manage diverse teams, budgets and operational systems at a strategic level.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, community stakeholders and senior leadership.
• Analytical thinking, problem‑solving orientation and high attention to detail.
• Resilient, flexible and calm under pressure.
