Head of Digital – Johannesburg

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Digital to lead the digital department of a media agency in Illovo, Johannesburg. The successful candidate will oversee a team of around 12 specialists and be responsible for the strategic direction, performance and growth of all digital client work.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead digital and paid‑media strategies across the agency’s client portfolio to achieve measurable ROI.
• Set up, manage, optimise and report on advertising campaigns on major platforms, ensuring technical accuracy and performance.
• Oversee platform administration, account structures, tracking implementation and other technical digital requirements.
• Manage billing, account reconciliations, project profitability and resource allocation for the digital department.
• Prepare quotations, proposals, scopes of work and presentations for new and existing clients.
• Drive business development, participate in new‑business meetings and lead client pitch presentations.

Required profile

• 7‑10 years of experience in digital marketing.
• 3‑5 years in a senior leadership or management role.
• Proven track record managing large client portfolios and multidisciplinary teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related field.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with Meta Ads Manager.
• Proficiency in Google Ads and Google Analytics.
• Working knowledge of LinkedIn Campaign Manager.
• Experience with TikTok Ads Manager.
• Familiarity with X (Twitter) Ads platform.
