Handyman

About the role

This role must prioritize making every guest a returning and referring guest. The Handyman carries out general repairs and maintenance under supervision, addressing quick fixes, special projects, and complying with the Lodge Care programme.

Key responsibilities

• Complete all administrative tasks to required standards and adhere to audit requirements.
• Maintain and execute the Preventative Maintenance Programme to protect the hotel’s physical assets.
• Coordinate daily operations, property inspections, minor repairs, stocktakes, and special projects while working with management and service providers.
• Monitor and coordinate outsourced tasks based on operational needs.
• Ensure compliance with disaster management, health and safety, and legislative training.

Required profile

• Minimum Grade 10–12/Equivalent education.
• At least 1 year proven experience as a handyman, including proficiency with tools and swimming pool maintenance.
• Ability to handle money and undergo a fraud/credit check.
• Willingness to work long hours, shifts, and perform physically demanding tasks.
• Basic understanding of health and safety regulations and fault‑finding in electrical, plumbing, painting, and building maintenance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand and power tools (drills, power saws, blowers).
• Swimming pool maintenance.
• Generator operation and maintenance.
• Use of infrared temperature gun for energy management.
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
