Half-Day Bookkeeper & Credit Controller (1-year contract)

About the role

A well‑established laboratory in Lynnwood, Pretoria is seeking a half‑day Bookkeeper and Credit Controller to manage its Sage accounting system. The role involves handling invoices, payments, bank reconciliations and monitoring overdue accounts, working Monday to Friday on a part‑time basis.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and issue client invoices and capture supplier invoices in Sage.
• Allocate receipts and payments, and reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
• Maintain accurate debtor and creditor records and monitor accounts payable/receivable.
• Send statements, payment reminders and professionally recover overdue amounts.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end close, budgeting, forecasting and audit documentation.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

Required profile

• BCom degree with 3–5 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Practical experience using Sage accounting software.
• Strong reconciliation skills, discretion and ability to work independently.
• Courteous yet confident telephone manner for client communications.

What we offer

• Salary range: R15 000 – R20 000 per month.
• Fixed‑term 1‑year contract, half‑day schedule (Monday‑Friday).
