Group Tax Manager

About the role

The Group Tax Manager will lead the Group’s tax function, ensuring compliance with South African and Eswatini tax legislation, developing tax strategies, managing risks and providing strategic tax advice to senior management. This role sits within the Finance division and supports sound business decisions across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with corporate income tax, VAT and other applicable taxes, and submit all required returns.
• Prepare, review and consolidate monthly, half‑year and year‑end tax reporting and tax journals.
• Develop and implement tax strategies to optimise the Group’s tax position and identify efficiencies.
• Monitor legislative changes and assess their impact on the Group’s operations.
• Manage transfer‑pricing policies, documentation and compliance.
• Liaise with SARS, ERS, external auditors, tax advisors and other stakeholders on tax matters and audits.
• Provide tax input on business decisions, restructurings, acquisitions and cross‑border transactions.
• Lead and develop the Group’s tax function, building capability, processes and tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Taxation; BCom Honours in Taxation or SAICA CA(SA) preferred.
• Minimum 5 years corporate tax experience and at least 2 years in a managerial or leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of South African and Eswatini tax legislation, corporate structures, transfer pricing and international tax principles.
• Experience dealing with SARS, ERS and managing tax audits.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management skills.
