Group Manager Aviation Academy

About the role

The Group Manager Aviation Academy will lead the development and growth of ACSA's Training Academy, aligning it with the company's strategic objectives and expanding non‑aeronautical revenue streams. Reporting to the Group Executive Human Resources, the role combines strategic planning, risk management, and partnership development.

Key responsibilities

• Translate ACSA’s business and organisational goals into a functional strategy for the Training Academy.
• Develop and implement a commercially viable business plan to grow revenue and deliver optimal returns.
• Identify, implement and maintain risk control measures to minimise company liability.
• Oversee the creation and delivery of best‑in‑class aviation training programmes.
• Manage the development and implementation of training frameworks, policies, procedures and systems.
• Conduct business needs analyses to address performance barriers in training platforms and delivery channels.
• Ensure procurement processes are followed when appointing service providers.
• Prepare timely and accurate reports for business and management requirements.
• Interpret the business plan and develop operational, CAPEX and labour budgets.
• Promote the Training Academy as a key player in local, national and international aviation forums.
• Identify and formalise strategic partnership opportunities, including MOUs.
• Implement people‑development processes such as performance management, succession planning and talent management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) (NQF 8) in Human Resources Development, Business Management, BCom, Social Sciences or Arts.
• Master’s Degree (MBA) is advantageous.
• Minimum 4 years operational experience in business management/development.
• Minimum 4 years functional operational experience.
• Minimum 4 years senior management experience.
• Registration with the South African Institute of Business Professionals (SABPP) is recommended.
• Eligibility for Top Security Clearance within three months of appointment.

Required skills

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Code B).
• Valid motor vehicle licence.
