Group Commercial Contracts Specialist

About the role

The Group Commercial Contracts Specialist provides essential commercial and contractual support across bids, projects and day‑to‑day business operations, ensuring that agreements are sound and aligned with organisational objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Providing commercial and contractual support to bids, projects and business operations.
• Reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements with customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
• Supporting contract negotiations and ensuring that commercial terms are appropriately managed.
• Advising internal stakeholders on contractual obligations, risks and compliance requirements.
• Assisting project teams with the interpretation and administration of contractual requirements.
• Managing contractual queries, disputes and escalations and working towards practical resolutions.
• Identifying commercial and contractual risks and recommending appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Monitoring contractual performance and highlighting potential areas of non‑compliance.
• Supporting the management of supplier performance and contractual obligations.
• Reviewing and improving contract management processes, procedures and documentation.
• Developing and maintaining contract templates, terms and conditions and other commercial documentation.
• Providing guidance on contractual requirements across different African markets.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Law, Commerce, Business Management, Supply Chain or a related field.
• Proven experience in commercial contracts, contract management or contract administration.
• Experience negotiating and managing contracts with both customers and suppliers.
• Exposure to tendering, projects, engineering, manufacturing or industrial environments (advantageous).
• Experience working with contracts across South Africa and/or African markets (beneficial).
• Strong negotiation, analytical and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to identify and manage commercial and contractual risks.
