Group Accountant – Full Group Accounting & Controls

About the role

The Group Accountant will be responsible for end‑to‑end group accounting, financial control and statutory compliance across multiple farm entities. This live‑out position requires managing intercompany transactions, payroll, VAT, cash flow and preparing management accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and reconcile all intercompany invoices, rentals, recoveries and loan transactions, including monthly interest calculations.
• Process monthly payroll, allocate wages across farms and cost centres, maintain PAYE, UIF, SDL and provident‑fund control accounts, and submit all statutory filings (EMP201, EMP501, IRP5, WCA).
• Prepare monthly VAT reconciliations, submit VAT201 returns and handle SARS audits and tax queries.
• Manage daily banking operations, upload CSV files to the FNB platform, review bank reconciliations and monitor cash‑flow forecasts.
• Review and sign off creditors and debtors reconciliations, process related journals and monitor revenue controls.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, analyse variances against budgets, and develop annual budgets and forecasts.
• Maintain fixed‑asset registers, process depreciation, manage diesel registers and perform stock adjustments.
• Liaise with external auditors, accountants and consultants, and prepare audit handover documentation.

Required profile

• Relevant degree or diploma in accounting.
• Previous experience in a similar group accounting role.
• Computer literate with ability to work with accounting software.
