Graphic Designer

About the role

dhk Architects is looking for an experienced, versatile Graphic Designer in Cape Town to create bold, intelligent design concepts across brand, communications, print and environmental design, from concept through to final production. The role is hands-on and covers wayfinding systems, publications, presentations, production files and stills and video, working across brand, architectural and communications projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver signage, wayfinding and environmental graphics, from concept and schedules through to production artwork, installation and snagging.
• Create print and brand collateral such as publications, brochures, reports, posters, invitations, project sheets and presentation material.
• Translate architectural, technical and business information into clear visuals for proposals, bids and tenders.
• Create diagrams, maps, infographics, illustrations and other project-specific graphics.
• Prepare and adapt digital assets for websites, social media, campaigns and internal communications; photography is an advantage, and basic videography or editing is an advantage.
• Prepare technically correct finished artwork for print and fabrication, liaise with printers, fabricators and installers, review proofs and maintain organised artwork and project libraries.

Required profile

• 8-10 years of professional graphic design experience.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in graphic design, visual communication or a related discipline.
• An impressive portfolio covering signage and wayfinding, environmental and large-format graphics, print design and publications, brand application, presentations, proposals or bid documents, and production-ready artwork.
• Experience in architecture, property, infrastructure, professional services or the built environment is highly valuable.
• Proven understanding of materials, fabrication, scale, legibility and installation requirements.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat Pro.
• Professional competence in PowerPoint and familiarity with Microsoft 365.
• Competent photography skills; videography, video editing or motion graphics is an advantage.
