Graduate Placement – Strategic Communications

About the role

FTI Consulting is seeking Graduate Consultants for its Strategic Communications team in Johannesburg. This 12‑month full‑time placement starts in January or February 2027 and is aimed at graduates interested in communications, public affairs, media relations and consulting. High performers may be offered a continued role after the placement.

Key responsibilities

• Research media, policy and market developments for client projects.
• Analyse information and contribute to client deliverables.
• Support communication campaigns and stakeholder outreach activities.
• Prepare reports, presentations and recommendations.
• Assist with digital content creation and media engagement.
• Participate in structured training and client project work.
• Build professional relationships through mentorship.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (or Honours/Master's) with expected graduation in 2026.
• Availability for a full‑time placement from January/February 2027.
• Strong research, analytical and communication skills.
• Good time‑management, organisation and ability to work both independently and in a team.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Advantageous: qualifications in Law, Economics, Business, STEM, Engineering, Computer Science, Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, Journalism or Development Studies.
• Digital communications experience and interest in current affairs, policy and business issues.
